PAW version 1.08/01

  1-    PAW improvements
        ================

 * The option 'E' may be given in the command NTUPLE/PLOT.
      If given, the resulting histogram will be created with
      the HBARX option (filling with weights is possible)
      and the error bars will be automatically drawn.

 * In case HBARX has been called, it is possible to turn off
      the drawing of the error bars (draw only histogram contour)
      if the option 'HIST' is given in the command HISTO/PLOT.
        Ex: Histo/plot 10 HIST
            Histo/plot 10 SCHIST   | (option 'S', 'C' and 'HIST')

 * An additional parameter has been introduced in the command CONTOUR
     to draw user defined contours.

    /HISTOGRAM/2D_PLOT/CONTOUR  [ ID NLEVEL IFLAG UCONT ]

    ID         C 'Histogram Identifier'
    NLEVEL I 'Number of contour lines' D=10
    IFLAG      I 'Rendering flag' D=1
    UCONT C 'Vector of user-defined contour levels'

    Draw a contour plot from a 2-Dim histogram.

     IFLAG = 0 - use colour to distinguish contours
           = 1 - use line style to distinguish contours
           = 2 - line style and colour are the same for all contours

    If UCONT is not given, contour levels are equidistant.
    If given, the vector UCONT may contain up to 50 values.

  2-    KUIP improvements
        =================

 *   New command SET_SHOW/VISIBILITY, to activate/deactivate commands;
    only execution is concerned, i.e. HELP can always be requested.
    Deactivated commands are on a grey/hatch background in STYLE G.

 * The maximum number of 'macro labels' has been changed from 50 to 100

 * MACRO/LIST on VAX is now done using lib$find_file,
    rather than LIB$SPAWN('DIRECTORY ...'
    (by J.D. Shiers)

 * Leading blanks are trimmed out in READ macro statement

  3-    HPLOT/HIGZ improvements
        =======================
 * Bug corrected in the picture data structure in case of non
      equidistant bins

 * French accents and special German or Scandinavian characters
      are available with the HIGZ/PostScript metafiles -111 or -112
      (See the new PAW manual or erratum file for the previous manual)

 * Subscripts, superscripts, Greek symbols are available in text
      strings for all fonts:
          -25 < Font < 0 and Precision = 1
      On the screen, the emulation of these fonts (for precision 1 only)
      is done with the font 0 (standard HIGZ font).
      On the metafile, this facility is only available with the
      HIGZ/PostScript metafiles -111 or -112.

 * Option LOGX works correctly in case of error bars

 * The NULL command (now based on a new HPLOT routine HPLFRA)
      allows the redefinition of a log scale on top of a previous
      picture in linear scale and vice-versa.

  4-    HBOOK improvements
        =================

 * The option 'SHOW' is now available in the command IDOPT.
       IDOPT ID SHOW shows all the options (attributes) currently set
       for histogram ID (ID may be 0).

 * A bug has been corrected in HINDEX (Histo/List I) when Current
       directory is //PAWC.

 * Some improvements in the fitting package interfaced
       with the latest version of the new MINUIT.

  5-    PAW on new machines
        ===================

        PAW has been ported on SUN/SPARC workstations. The HIGZ package
        contains an interface with SUNGKS.

        PAW has been ported on Silicon Graphics workstations. HIGZ
        contains a direct interface to the Silicon Graphics library GL
        (No special version of GKS required)

        Note that for the two systems above, new versions of KERNLIB,etc
        have also been developed.
