HepExplorer
Introduction
The general LHC++ strategy is based on the concept that commercial solutions
should be preferred over home-grown ones whenever it's possible. According
to this strategy the Objectivity ODBMS and NAG's IRIS Explorer Analysis
and Visualization Framework were chosen as the main components of the future
LHC experiments offline environment (along with OpenGL, OpenInventor, STL
etc.).
Since a well chosen set of commercial packages implement the features
any 'generic' user is interested in, what's left to the HEP community is
to 'customize' the environment to fulfill our specific requirements.
In the LHC++ framework such HEP-specific efforts were named according
to the various areas they refer to:
-
HepODBMS : HEP specific customization of the ODBMS environment
-
HepVis : HEP specific complex graphics based on Open Inventor
-
HepInventor: HEP specific presentation graphics based on Master Suite/Open
Inventor
-
HepExplorer: HEP specific IRIS Explorer components for interactive analysis
HepExplorer
HepExplorer modules allow physicists to reproduce the typical analysis
chain (data->histogram->fit->paper) in the new IRIS Explorer framework.
